The Cruiser's Pause
ISTANBUL AIRPORT
Year
2019
The world, dear friends, is smaller now,
and the sky — oh, it’s grander than ever.
Not like a kite, not even like a bird,
but with wings forged of steel and song,
planes glide through the heavens
carrying the dreams of modern-day nomads.
We are at the stops now,
for even pausing has meaning.
It might be the beginning or the end of a journey,
or just a breath in the middle.
And here stands one of those stops —
a space where stone meets steel,
where glass greets the sky:
The Wayfarer’s Stop by TCA,
at Istanbul Airport.
A place for meeting, for parting,
for waiting, for discovering.
An open yet sheltered arena,
where the wind hums friendly songs,
and the roof, speaking to the sky,
floats like the wing of a steel bird.
And there, at this stop,
a conversation might bloom over a glass of tea,
a map might unfold with a single book,
and a look might bridge two distant languages.
Oh traveler,
this is more than a terminal —
this is a poem,
a stanza formed by footsteps
carrying stories from all corners of the earth.
And we,
the architects who write such verses,
offer you a breath, a stop,
a shelter between skies.
